Homer Simpson joins the ranks of Mr. T and John Cleese as a downloadable custom voice for TomTom portable navigation devices. Fans of the longest-running American prime time entertainment series can now listen to Homer "woohoo" and "d'oh!" his way through your turn-by-turn directions.

Along the way, Homer adds his own commentary such as, "Take the third right. We might find an ice cream truck! Mmm... ice cream."

It's not often that one exits an amusement park attraction thinking, "That ride was really well-written." But that just might be a common response to The Simpsons Ride, which opened last year at Universal Studios theme parks here and in Orlando, Fla.

In both locations, The Simpsons Ride replaced the aging Back to the Future ride, using the same building and much of the same mechanics. The Simpsons, a simulator ride that faces a multistory movie screen, uses the same ride system as Back to the Future, albeit updated. Instead of taking a journey with Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd), park guests visit Krustyland amusement park with the Simpsons.

Artist's cartoon likenesses have celebrities saying 'woo-hoo!'

 The art of Simpsonizing someone -- drawing them as if they were in the TV show The Simpsons -- requires bright yellow skin, an overbite and no chin.

And only four fingers.

Graphic designer Dean Fraser, 29, has mastered the art of transforming pop culture characters and famous celebrities into Springfield residents.

The sponsorship begins this weekend, to coincide with the start of the 20th series of The Simpsons. Televised activity will comprise 15-second pre- and post-rolls, five-second break bumpers and Currys branding on programme trailers. Online sponsorship will incorporate display ads and brand integration on Sky1's The Simpsons site. Currys replaces Domino's as the sponsor of the show, after a 10-year tenure.

The sponsorship deal marks the start of a fresh strategy for Currys. Developed by M&C Saatchi, the activity, which introduces the strapline ‘We can help', will focus on the retailer's service propositions by taking a comical look at everyday problems associated with electricals and offering practical solutions.
