The Complete List Of Star Wars References From The Simpsons

This is as complete a list as we at the Insider, with considerable help with our friends at The Simpsons and Bongo Comics, were able to compile. We trust you'll let us know if we missed any...

"Bart the General" (2/4/90) Bart accurately declares the only "good wars" to be the American Revolution, World War II and the Star Wars trilogy.

"Old Money" (3/28/91) Among the Springfield residents in line for Abe Simpsons' money is someone dressed as Darth Vader.

"I Married Marge" (12/16/91) In a flashback, Homer and Marge are leaving the theater where they just saw The Empire Strikes Back when Homer marvels, "I can't believe Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father," ruining the surprise for everybody in line. Later, Homer declares his love: "Marge, you're as pretty as Princess Leia and smart as Yoda."

Harry Shearer to Receive Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Radio personality, actor, author, director, comedian, musician, philosopher, political satirist, multimedia artist and one of the best "voices" in the business (just ask "The Simpsons"), Harry Shearer is one of the most prolific entertainers of this or any generation. Today, The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's Walk of Fame Committee announced that Harry Shearer is one of two LA-based radio personalities who will be honored with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame next year.

Vogue magazine called Le Show "a wildly clever, iconoclastic stew of talk, music, political commentary, readings of inadvertently funny public documents or trade magazines and scripted skits." Los Angeles Magazine described Harry's talent for writing and performing this way: "Shearer is a one-man renaissance assault force on the conventions of our culture and a much-needed antidote to the current gloom and doom."

Rogen and Goldberg Writing Simpsons Episode

IGN caught up with actor-writer Seth Rogen on the set of his new film, Observe and Report, in Albuquerque, N.M. where he revealed that he and his writing partner Evan Goldberg are working on a script for an episode of The Simpsons.

"Evan actually met [Simpsons producer] James L. Brooks at a party," Rogen explains. "And James expressed that he really liked Superbad, so we thought, 'There's our in.' And we asked them to write a Simpsons."

Rogen and Goldberg will be writing a script based on their own idea, which was just one of many they pitched to the show's regular writing staff.

"We went in and pitched them like five ideas and surprisingly they hadn't done some of them. And we all kind of settled on one in the meeting and then we went out and wrote an outline and they gave us notes on it."

Rogen will also be voicing one of the characters himself. He says the episode is expected to air sometime next season.

Homer Provides The Tunes For The Swimming Pool

There seem to be many chic ways to package an electronic radio. One is to disguise a simple AM/FM receiver in a 170 x 90 x 70 millimetre sized comic figure named Homer Simpson; and to make it waterproof. With the Homer Simpson Floating Bath Radio, one can bring their favourite radio stations with them to the beach or bathtub, with no fear of damage. Because Homer can swim, even with a beer can resting on his stomach.

The beer can isn’t real, but it does serve as the controls for volume and station selection. Maybe that’s why Homer doesn’t look completely relaxed, even in his flower pattern shorts. Having the music resound from his knees is also somewhat strange. Homer’s unshaven mouth would have been much more suitable.

The rubber bath toy with a radio implanted in its stomach is available for around £20 at drinkstuff.com, not including shipping costs, batteries or beer.
