Top 10 Simpsons Moments

1. King-Size Homer. Homer decides deliberately to gain 61 pounds to qualify as disabled so he can work from home. Lisa, naturally, is outraged. Lisa: “I must protest. You're abusing a program intended to help the unfortunate.” Homer: “Hee hee hee, I'm not saying it isn't sleazy, honey. But try to see it my way: all my life I've been an obese man trapped inside a fat man's body.”

Ep: King-Size Homer. Series 7

2. Unpossible. Principal Skinner hands the sublimely hapless Ralph Wiggum a report card to take to his parents because he’s flunking English. Ralph: “Me fail English? That’s unpossible.”

Ep: Lisa on Ice. Series 8

Europe Gets Simpsons Irish Adventure Before US

America's unofficial ‘first family’ will be paying a visit to one of Northern Ireland’s most famous landmarks next month.

The Simpsons will be coming to Ireland on St Patrick’s Day for a special edition of the hit show entitled In the Name of The Grandfather.

The episode will see oafish head of the family Homer make Grandpa Simpson’s dream of a final beer in a pub in the village of Dunkilderry, where he claims to have spent the best night of his life, come true.

s20e11 - How the Test Was Won

Info: Bart learns that he and a few other students at Springfield Elementary have aced the Vice President's Assessment practice test, exempting them from the real exam, and they are flown via helicopter to a pizza party that, instead, turns out to be something else entirely. Meanwhile, Homer's health insurance lapses when he forgets to make a payment and it makes for a harrowing day of accident avoidance as he tries to get his check to the insurance company without injuring himself.

Blackboard: "March Madness" is not an excuse for missing school.

Couch Gag: The family literally runs through a montage of classic sitcoms (The Honeymooners, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Brady Bunch and Cheers) before making it to the couch safely.

Ralph: It's dark!

Error On New 'Simpsons'

There is—gasp!—a continuity error in the new opening to "The Simpsons," the first all-new intro in the show's 20 seasons on air.

In the first scene of the new opener—lengthened and widened for HD and first shown Sunday—teenagers saw the head off the statue of Jebediah Springfield, founder of the fictional town. Later in the sequence, the statue is intact.

At least the town motto at the statue's base—"A Noble Spirit Embiggens the Smallest Man"—remains the same.

Embiggening the opening gives us all a good excuse to take another look at a great television series.

Simpsons Shows Signs Of Humour But Lacks Direction

They always do a good sign on The Simpsons. The noticeboard outside the church, that great one that time on the porno theatre advertising a film called Sperms of Endearment...tonight's best effort is on the way into Aspen, "Welcome to Aspen. Population: White".

And there are also some good shop names as we drive through the main street – Marc-Up Jacobs, Spiffanys, Vulgari...And the street sign as we arrive at the presumably tonier end of Springfield, "Springfield Heights. Ethnic names bear right". I also enjoyed the name of the frigate Mayor Quimby launches, the USS Float and Shoot.
