In a string of promotion for its Fall animations, FOX has given a little glimpse into the highly-anticipated "The Simpsons" episode. Lea Michele and Cory Monteith of "Glee" have been turned yellow for the animation and they literally sing praises to Lisa Simpson.

In the September 26 episode, when Krusty the Clown is announced as the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, Homer invites Bart to accompany him on a trip to Oslo for the ceremony.

As Troy McClure would say, you might remember Harry Shearer from such Simpsons voices as Ned Flanders, Reverend Lovejoy, Mr. Burns, Waylon Smithers, Otto the Bus Driver, and Kang the Alien Octopus.

You might also know him as the bassist from the heavy metal band Spinal Tap, author of the novel Not Enough Indians, and host of the radio show "Le Show," a one-man vocal circus in which Shearer talks politics with angry callers, insane guests and top-tier celebrities, all of them played by Shearer himself.

Just as later seasons of The Simpsons have become hit and miss affairs rather than the appointment viewing of its first decade or so, so too have the DVD sets moved from must-own collections to inessential, if undeniably fan-friendly, collector’s objects.

Season 13, now on DVD, finds the show settling into a sometimes amusing, often unexceptional groove, and as much fun as these retrospective box sets are, the same is true for the collected version.

“Glee” didn’t win the Emmy on Sunday for outstanding comedy series (losing to the excellent “Modern Family”) but that loss does little to slow the momentum of this show as it prepares to begin its second season in a little less than three weeks.

On Sunday, Sept. 26, five days after the premiere, three “Glee” characters – Rachel (Lea Michele), Finn (Cory Monteith), and Mercedes (Amber Riley) – will be featured in cartoon form on the season premiere of “The Simpsons.”
